Chapters 25 through 30 had so many lies told it was hard to keep them all straight. I could not believe that the King thought he could actually get away with acting like he was the dead man's brother and steal all the money and sell all his stuff before people caught on to them being frauds. Huck and the Duke at times throughout these chapters knew that the King had gotten way too deep in his lies and there was no way it was going to end in their favor. Right from the start they didn't have a plan for what they were going to do when they got to this town. The King had a little bit of a plan but by the sounds of it never really let the Duke and Huck in on what he was thinking, just went along with whatever the King said, which they shouldn't have did.
Huck knew that what these guys were doing was in his words "digesting" and he even thought that sell the slave family to two different family and splitting them up was awful, which shows a lot about Huck himself. He tried to make it right many times but just kept making things worse for himself. He always has such good intentions for doing the right thing, but he always tries to do the right thing the wrong way. The big problem that I can see is that Huck never really has a realistic plan for trying to do the right thing. However, thats not really his fault, just look back on how his father looked at stealing as just borrowing and thats it was okay if you ment to pay them back. I mean it's kind of doing the right thing in the wrong way when you really think about it. Another example is how Huck looks up to Tom Sawyer for his good lying skills, saying multiple times how he wish Tom could see how well he sold a lie to someone, knowing that Tom could tell the lie much better and with more "style". Even the widow as a little bit of an impact of Huck when he is trying to do the right thing, he knows that the widow would want to see him try to make it right any way he can. All of these are good examples for why Huck thinks that way he does because of the people that hes learned from in his life.
Huck was so close to setting things right with the money and letting the girls know that their "uncles" weren't their real uncles that I actually thought he was going to get away with it. But that wouldn't be a good story now would it, so as soon as the other two "uncles" showed up i knew it wasn't going to be that easy. I still do not think that the other two old guys were the real uncles either, but it did make me wonder if people did this a lot when they heard about someone dying and tried to come claim the money and land left behind. Because what are the changes that two sets of guys would try to pretend to be the ares to the dead guys money, because there was no way that either set of men were actually the brother of the dead guy. When they were both trying to prove to the lawyer that they were the real deal both of their stories were shaky.
I was really hoping that the King and Duck were going to be hung and Huck was going to be able to go back to peacefully floating down the river with Jim. Speaking of Jim I nearly forget about him every time the three guys go to land to rob some more people, they're gone for so long it seems like and no one ever goes and checks on Jim. If I were Jim I would leave those guys on the raft and just keep going by myself, but I guess Jim is at a higher risk of getting caught if he was by himself, so it's kind of a thin line. But anyway, I really though Huck was going to get the heck out of that town and leave the two losers behind for good, I was really rooting for it to happen. I thought it did happen when Huck and Jim started to float down the river again, till the two losers came in some canoe. I wanted to cry with Huck, I thought the King was going to kill Huck for leaving, but Jim would never let that happen and the Duke was actually protecting Huck. When the two guys got drunk i would have dumped them over bored and left them.
